Resident Student Information
BW Game Network
BW has an exclusive network for resident students who wish to connect their gaming systems and play online. From on campus, go to: https://mydevices.bw.edu. Login with your BW username and password. Follow the prompts to register your device. Once successful, your game system will run on BW's device network, "BW_Hive." This network is reserved for gaming systems and streaming devices.
Streaming Devices/Voice Assistants
BW resident students wishing to use streaming and voice assisted devices in their residence hall (Chromecast, Alexa, Echo, Firestick, Roku, Apple TV, etc.), must register EACH of their devices. From on campus, go to: https://mydevices.bw.edu. Login with your BW username and password. Follow the prompts to register the device. Once successful, your device will run on BW's device network, "BW_Hive." The Hive network is reserved for gaming systems and streaming devices.
Connecting Wired Devices
You can connect a wired device to the BW network using an Ethernet cord. After you plug into the wall jack, reboot your computer. Then, open any web browser and you'll be redirected to the wired registration page.
No Routers/Personal Networks
BW students are prohibited from setting up routers or personal wi-fi networks in the residence halls. They will be discovered and shut down. These networks interfere with BW network efficiency. If the wireless connection in your building is slow or spotty, please contact the IT HelpDesk. A technician will be dispatched to check the service in your area.
Printers in Residence Hall Rooms
Personal desktop printers in student rooms should only be connected to a computer and NOT added to the BW wireless network. Printers added to the BW network can be accessed by other students, giving them the ability to queue to your printer or change your settings. This is not secure.
